MP3helper really helps!

No artwork just looks bad and some artwork can be very hard to find. Lyrics can be even hard to track down. Aside from providing a simple search and apply interface, MP3 helper tracks what Internet destinations are most popular and offers them to other users to help or eliminate the need for searching on your own. Further, the images you add to your collection increase the size of your collection so it is wasteful to import very large images-- MP3helper can automatically shrink the selected image file to an appropriate size saving you valuable space on your iPod!

Sharing My Information?

Is information about what music I own indexed by the application? Can others see what music I own?

RE: Sharing My Information?

Absolutely not. We track only what sources are being selected, not who you are or what you own. There is no way for our service to be aware of what you own or do not. If that is a service you are looking for you may want to try out Last.FM's AudioScrobbler.

Finding what I couldn't find before

iTunes and another utility I tried got about 80% of my artwork, but I've been dealing with missing artwork for a long time! Now I've not only got the missing artwork taken care of but lyrics too! Thank you for creating such a helpful little tool!

What if there just is no album art?

I've got some remixes and live stuff that wasn't really on a CD but I hate the missing artwork situation. Suggestions?

RE: What if there just is not album art?

Another nice feature of MP3 Helper is that you can choose any graphic you wish. It will "fit" better if it is square, but you really can choose any image you like-- a picture of the band like a press photo or concert image can be ideal in cases like these.

Loving this software

I can't stop-- I've been at it for hours now filling in all the missing artwork and for my favorite songs grabbing the lyrics too. Funny I was wrong about the lyrics to songs I've enjoyed for decades!

Releases marked as missing artwork sometimes display artwork in iTunes?

I've got several releases that show they are missing artwork in MP3 Helper, but in iTunes I see artwork (and sometimes on my iPod too). What is with the inconsistency?

RE: Releases marked as missing artwork sometimes display artwork in iTunes?

Good question. iTunes used to just put the image files in a directory with the music. This would sometimes get the artwork right on the iPod, sometimes not. This issue led Apple to start embedding the artwork in the MP3 file itself. This is what MP3 helper does. So you may find that artwork is listed as missing even though you see it in iTunes, but to _really_ get the artwork in the file, just use MP3 Helper to tag it again. This way the image will be in the file where you want it and you'll be sure to get the artwork on your iPod everytime.

BTW, we are going to stop these blog conversations soon. We have started up with a new service called "UserVoice" which will let you ask questions and ask for features-- then others can vote on items to help us prioritize issues and feedback. Check it out here: http://feedback.mp3helper.com!

"MP3helper made my collection so much better than it was", said user MaryS. "Not having artwork displayed left that ugly generic image, which really looks ugly on such a beautiful player and now that I can even read lyrics as I listen, my iPod is even better than I thought possible!"
