Does MP3helper automatically find lyrics and artwork?

Better really, it helps you find what you really want! No database includes everything which is why MP3 helper makes its task to help you locate artwork and lyrics wherever they may be on the Internet.

Sometimes MP3 Helper says the album has no artwork for an item, but I think there actually is

This can indeed be the case—the reason is that MP3 Helper looks and stores album artwork inside the MP3 file itself. iTunes started doing this a few versions ago, but used to place a single image file in the directory where the MP3 files were stored. This shows up in iTunes, but it does not always appear your iPod or iPhone. It is preferable to have your artwork images stored in the MP3 file so there is no concern over its availability to applications and devices like your iPod or iPhone. Therefore, just re-apply the images using MP3 Helper if MP3 Helper does not show them as present—this way you’ll get all your files to this desirable state.

Artwork looks good on my iPod, but not so good when looking at it in iTunes

If you want to see images in a bigger format (either a larger iPod display like on the iPod Touch, or in iTunes on your computer) it is preferable to use a high resolution image when selecting images with MP3 Helper. We recommend 300x300 when available. By default, images larger than 300x300 are shrunk in order to conserve space but you may change this in settings if you wish.

One thing to be aware of is that when you first select an album and see several images displayed is that these are just small thumbnails of the actual image. This dimensions of the image listed reflect that of the full image you can get to by clicking on the image and visiting the site where the file is located. For an iPod Nano the thumbnails may be just fine, however we recommend clicking on an image, then selecting “show me just this image”. At this point you’ll have only the high resolution image in the search area and you can make use of this image for best results (either by right-clicking on it and choosing to add it or clicking and dragging the image to the CD graphic at the bottom of the screen.

Does MP3helper work with my device?

If your player handles embedded artwork and lyrics the answer is yes! If you are not sure, below are some devices we have verified:

  • iPhone and iPhone 3G
  • iPod Touch
  • iPod Classic (5th Generation)

Devices known not to be supported for the display of artwork and lyrics:
  • iPod Shuffle
  • iPod Mini

How do I view lyrics on my iPod?

On the iPod touch and iPhone players you can view lyrics by simply touching the screen once while the song is playing.

On older iPods with a display, simply click the center button while listening to the song three times (once for track position, twice for album art, three times for lyrics, four times to rate the track).

How much does MP3helper cost?

MP3 helper costs $12.95 per person, once purchased it may be installed on any number of computers owned by this same person and updates to the program will be provided free of charge for the life of the product.

I have a website, can I sell MP3 Helper?

We offer an affiliate program through eSellerate where 50% is paid as commission for all sales tracked through your site. Please click here for details and to sign up!.

Is this safe? What personal information is being shared?

Very safe. No personally identifiable data is sent or stored; we simply track URLs and counters for how often they are used. We store no data about you or the files you have on your computer.

What should I do if no images are found?

If no images are found for an album you select, you may try changing the default search criteria in the search from "<Artist Name> <CD Title>" to just the artist name. This way you’ll get more results although they may not be what you are after. If there just is no artwork for the release in question you can use a photograph of the band or concert photo. While square images are typically used, you can choose any image of any size for your desired artwork.

Sometimes I can’t select an image or text because the website where it is found prevents me

If you encounter this please let us know so we can add it to our list of restricted sites. Such sites are then automatically excluded from searches and recommended sources. Some sites don’t want other websites embedding their information due to the cost of bandwidth (known as leeching). While you are not leaching but visiting the site, you may still encounter sites that don’t let you see the full image or even right-click on a page. When we identify such a site we have the ability to automatically exclude it by updating the search parameters used by MP3 Helper.

Additionally, we do what we can to stop sites from triggering pop-ups by employing a built-in pop-up blocker. If you find you you inadvertently clicked on a link and moved to another page, just hit the "back" button as you would when normally browsing the web.

"MP3helper made my collection so much better than it was", said user MaryS. "Not having artwork displayed left that ugly generic image, which really looks ugly on such a beautiful player and now that I can even read lyrics as I listen, my iPod is even better than I thought possible!"
